The Government is set to introduce a new bill aimed at strengthening the management of national parks across the country. The proposed legislation will enable park rangers to issue fines for activities that are deemed harmful to the environment.
Under the new National Parks Bill, by-laws could be established to prohibit or restrict certain activities within park boundaries. These activities include the use of disposable barbecues, which pose a significant fire risk and environmental threat.
This legislative move is part of a broader strategy to preserve the natural beauty and ecological integrity of Ireland’s national parks. By empowering rangers to enforce these regulations, the Government aims to ensure that the parks remain safe and enjoyable for all visitors.
