Israel Launches First Airstrike on Beirut Since Ceasefire

In a significant development, Israel has launched an airstrike on Beirut, targeting parts of the city that have not seen such action since the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah last month. This move marks a notable escalation in tensions between the two sides.

The Israeli military confirmed that the strike aimed at a commander from Hezbollah’s elite Radwan force, located in the southern suburbs of Beirut. This area is known to be a stronghold for the militant group, which Israel considers a major threat to its security.

The ceasefire, agreed upon in April, had brought a temporary halt to the hostilities following a period of intense conflict. However, the recent attack suggests that underlying tensions remain unresolved, posing a risk of further escalation in the region.

Hezbollah has yet to issue a formal response to the airstrike, but the incident has already raised concerns about the potential for renewed violence in the area, with international observers closely monitoring the situation.
