The Communications Workers’ Union (CWU) has issued a strong plea to the Government, urging it to address the escalating cost-of-living crisis and to establish statutory collective bargaining rights for workers. This call to action emerged from a unanimous vote at the union’s conference in Sligo.
Delegates at the event expressed deep concerns over the financial strain faced by workers amid rising prices, highlighting the urgent need for governmental intervention. The CWU emphasized that many employees are struggling to make ends meet, necessitating immediate policy changes.
In addition to cost-of-living issues, the union stressed the importance of statutory collective bargaining rights, which they argue are essential for ensuring fair wages and working conditions. The delegates believe that empowering workers with these rights would lead to more equitable negotiations between employers and employees.
The CWU’s motion reflects a growing demand for comprehensive measures to protect workers’ interests in an increasingly challenging economic landscape. The union hopes that their collective voice will prompt swift and decisive action from policymakers.
