Connacht GAA Air Dome Restored After Storm Damage

The Connacht GAA Air Dome at the University of Galway has been reinflated, marking its return to service over a year after it was damaged by Storm Éowyn. This significant facility, known for being the largest of its kind in Ireland, had been out of operation since the storm wreaked havoc in the region.

Storm Éowyn, which struck last year, caused extensive damage to the Air Dome, leading to a prolonged period of repair and restoration. The damage resulted in the deflation of the dome, which had become a crucial venue for various sporting events and activities.

The restoration process involved meticulous efforts to ensure the dome could be safely reinflated and returned to its full operational capacity. The successful reinflation is expected to rejuvenate local sports, providing a much-needed venue for training and competitions.

The return of the Air Dome is welcomed by both the university and the local community, as it is set to once again host a wide range of events, contributing to the region’s sporting culture and community engagement.
