A preliminary investigation by the United Nations has suggested that three peacekeepers in Lebanon were likely killed last month in two separate incidents involving Israeli and Hezbollah forces.
The probe, disclosed last night, indicates that in one incident, the peacekeepers were likely victims of Israeli tank fire. In a separate occurrence, an improvised explosive device, believed to have been planted by Hezbollah, was the probable cause of death for the other peacekeepers.
This development highlights the ongoing risks faced by UN peacekeeping forces in volatile regions and underscores the complex dynamics in Lebanon, where multiple factions are involved in the conflict.
The UN continues to assess the situation and has not yet released a comprehensive final report on these incidents.
