Taoiseach Condemns Whitegate Blockade Amid Fuel Supply Crisis

Protests at the Whitegate refinery have severely disrupted fuel supplies across Ireland, prompting the Taoiseach to label the blockade as an ‘act of national sabotage’.

Fuels For Ireland, the representative body for the fuel industry, has reported that approximately half of the country’s fuel reserves are currently trapped in the Whitegate refinery and other storage terminals. The situation has raised concerns about potential fuel shortages nationwide.

In response to the escalating crisis, the Taoiseach has criticised the ongoing protests, emphasising the critical impact on the nation’s infrastructure and economy. Government officials are reportedly exploring measures to address the blockade and ensure fuel distribution resumes swiftly.

As tensions rise, the government faces mounting pressure to intervene and resolve the blockade, which threatens to disrupt transportation and essential services throughout the country.
