A report from the Hope and Courage Collective has revealed a growing divide between the general public’s attitudes and the political narratives espoused by far-right groups in Ireland. The findings suggest that while far-right rhetoric may be gaining visibility, it does not reflect the majority viewpoint among the Irish public.
The study indicates that most people in Ireland do not align with the divisive and often misleading messaging propagated by far-right factions. Instead, there is a stronger inclination towards community resilience and unity against hate and misinformation.
This gap highlights a crucial distinction between the political discourse driven by certain groups and the actual sentiments of the wider population. The report suggests that while far-right ideologies may be vocal, they do not represent the prevailing public opinion.
Efforts by organizations like the Hope and Courage Collective to build resilience in communities are seen as vital in countering the spread of disinformation and fostering a more inclusive society.
