The Oscar statuette awarded to director Pavel Talankin has gone missing during a journey from New York to Germany. Talankin, celebrated for his documentary ‘Mr Nobody Against Putin’, encountered this unexpected loss after being compelled to check the award in his luggage.
The disappearance occurred on a flight where Talankin, unable to carry the prized possession in the cabin, placed it in checked baggage. The statuette, which represents a significant achievement in his career, was awarded for the Best Documentary category earlier this year.
The incident has raised concerns over the handling of valuable items in checked luggage, prompting discussions around airline policies and the security of passengers’ belongings during transit.
Efforts are reportedly underway to locate the missing Oscar, with authorities and the airline cooperating to resolve the situation. The incident underscores the challenges faced by travelers carrying irreplaceable items, sparking a debate on baggage safety measures.
