Russia has announced a temporary unilateral ceasefire with Ukraine, scheduled to occur from the 8th to the 9th of May. This period coincides with Moscow’s annual celebrations of World War II Victory Day, a significant event in the Russian calendar.
The announcement comes amidst ongoing hostilities between the two nations, with Russia issuing a stern warning to Ukraine. Moscow has threatened a ‘massive missile strike’ on Kyiv should Ukraine breach this ceasefire agreement.
The ceasefire declaration appears to be an effort by Russia to align military actions with national observances, while maintaining a firm stance against Ukraine. This development adds another layer of complexity to the already tense situation between the two countries.
