The Irish Government has announced a comprehensive new strategy to address and reduce the suicide rate across the country. The initiative sets an ambitious target to bring the rate down to 7 per 100,000 people by the year 2035.
This strategy outlines a series of interventions aimed at improving mental health support services, raising public awareness, and fostering community-based prevention efforts. It focuses on enhancing access to mental health care and providing targeted support for vulnerable groups.
Officials believe that by implementing these measures, the strategy will help create a more supportive environment for individuals struggling with mental health issues, ultimately reducing the incidence of suicide nationwide.
The Government has committed to working closely with health services, community organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure the strategy’s success and sustainability over the coming years.
