A powerful earthquake has struck the southern Philippines, causing widespread destruction and triggering a tsunami. The disaster has left at least 19 people dead and more than 200 injured on the island of Mindanao.
The quake hit with enough force to topple buildings and create panic among residents. Emergency services have been working tirelessly to rescue those trapped in the rubble and provide aid to the injured.
The tsunami that followed the earthquake added to the devastation, sweeping through coastal areas and compounding the region’s challenges. Authorities have urged residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and heed evacuation orders as aftershocks continue to pose a risk.
Efforts are currently underway to assess the full extent of the damage and coordinate relief efforts to support the impacted communities. The government has called for international assistance to aid in recovery and rebuilding efforts.
