An impending strike by perfusionists, crucial cardiac specialists involved in surgeries, has been paused. This decision follows fresh engagements with the Health Service Executive (HSE) regarding a recent Labour Court recommendation.
The perfusionists, members of the Fórsa trade union, had planned to initiate strike action to address ongoing disputes. However, after constructive talks with the HSE, a temporary halt has been agreed upon to allow for further discussions and the potential implementation of the Labour Court’s recommendations.
This development offers a reprieve for patients and healthcare services, ensuring that critical cardiac operations can proceed without disruption. The Fórsa union and the HSE are now working closely to find a sustainable resolution to the issues raised.
The outcome of these discussions is awaited with anticipation as all parties aim to reach a mutually beneficial agreement that addresses the concerns of the perfusionists while maintaining service continuity in cardiac care.
