In an effort to combat littering and promote environmental responsibility, the Irish government has announced a significant increase in fines for litter offences. Starting from the 1st of September, penalties will rise from €150 to €250, marking a €100 hike.
This initiative, spearheaded by Minister of State for the Circular Economy Alan Dillon, is part of a broader strategy to enhance sustainability and reduce waste. The increase aims to act as a deterrent against irresponsible disposal of waste and encourage citizens to adopt more eco-friendly habits.
