A former army commander has vehemently denied allegations of mistreatment towards his platoon members during his tenure at the Army Apprentice School in Devoy Barracks, Naas. These accusations were addressed during a Defence Forces Tribunal.
The officer, who served at the training facility before its closure, faced accusations regarding his conduct towards recruits under his command. However, he insisted that he never engaged in any form of misconduct or mistreatment.
This case has brought to light concerns about historical practices within military training environments. The tribunal continues to assess the validity of the claims made against the former commander, alongside testimonies from other witnesses.
The Defence Forces Tribunal, established to investigate such allegations, aims to ensure transparency and accountability within the military ranks. As proceedings continue, the tribunal seeks to establish a clear understanding of past events at the training school.
