The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) has significantly bolstered the Irish exchequer with a contribution of almost €15 million in 2025. This figure, detailed in its latest annual report, highlights the bureau’s ongoing efforts in seizing and managing assets linked to criminal activities.
Throughout the year, the CAB focused on a series of operations targeting proceeds of crime, resulting in asset seizures and auctions that contributed to the substantial financial return. These efforts form part of a broader strategy to disrupt the financial incentives of criminal enterprises.
The annual report underscores the bureau’s role in not only recovering assets but also ensuring that those engaged in illicit activities are deprived of their ill-gotten gains. This approach aims to deter potential criminal activities by undermining their economic viability.
As the CAB continues its work, the financial contributions to the exchequer serve as a testament to the effectiveness of Ireland’s judicial and law enforcement systems in tackling organised crime.
