Dublin City University (DCU) has announced that an administrative error led to the overpayment of its president, Professor Daire Keogh, over a four-year period. The university confirmed that the error was due to a miscalculation in salary payments.
The discrepancy was identified during a recent audit of the university’s financial records. While the exact amount of the overpayment has not been disclosed, DCU assured that corrective measures are being implemented to address the issue.
Professor Keogh, who has been serving as the president since 2020, was unaware of the overpayment and is cooperating fully with the university to rectify the situation. The university has indicated that steps will be taken to recover the funds appropriately.
This incident highlights the importance of robust financial oversight within educational institutions to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
